EWURA transitions to digital licensing via new e-service platform

Dodoma. The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) has officially announced a major digital transformation of its service delivery systems.

Effective March 2, 2026, the regulator will launch the EWURA e-Service, a new platform designed to streamline the application process for all permits and licenses.

This update represents a significant shift in how the authority interacts with its stakeholders and the general public.

Under this new directive, the previous Licensing and Observations Information System (LOIS) will no longer accept applications for construction permits or operating licenses.

Prospective applicants must transition to the e-Service portal for all new submissions starting from the designated date.

The move aims to enhance efficiency and improve the overall user experience within the energy and water sectors.

While the primary licensing functions are moving to the new digital platform, the legacy LOIS system will remain operational for specific tasks.

EWURA confirmed that LOIS will continue to be used exclusively for receiving and managing customer complaints.

This dual-system approach ensures that existing grievance procedures remain uninterrupted while the licensing department modernizes its core infrastructure.
