Dar es Salaam. The National Housing Corporation (NHC) has declared its readiness to collaborate with the private sector through partnership frameworks designed to stimulate investment in the housing and urban development sectors.

This significant announcement was made by NHC Partnership Manager, Ms Elizabeth Maro, during the Tanzania-Japan Housing, Construction, and Urban Development Seminar, held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Dar es Salaam July 28, 2025.

Ms Maro elaborated on the innovative partnership products developed by the NHC, including the Land as Equity Contribution and Long Term Lease Model.

These initiatives are designed to directly involve investors in urban residential and commercial construction projects.

She stated that these models aim to accelerate the construction of quality housing, expand economic opportunities, and enhance the value of land in strategic areas.

The seminar brought together experts, government officials, and stakeholders from both Tanzania and Japan.

Its primary objective was to facilitate the exchange of experiences, strengthen collaboration in urban development, and discuss optimal strategies for ensuring access to quality, safe, and affordable housing.

Officiating at the closing of the seminar, the Minister for Lands, Housing and Human Settlements Development, Hon. Deogratius Ndejembi, underscored the Government's continued support for NHC's efforts and its collaboration with Japan in improving the housing sector.

"We are genuinely committed to ensuring every Tanzanian has access to decent and sustainable housing. This international partnership is a catalyst for learning, technology exchange, and building inclusive cities," he said.

The seminar clearly demonstrated a shared commitment to building modern, resilient cities for both current and future generations.
