Ministry of Finance initiates review of Public Procurement Act

Dodoma. The Ministry of Finance has commenced a comprehensive review of the Public Procurement Act, Chapter 410.

This initiative aims to align the legislation with the National Development Vision 2050.

A specialized workshop recently took place here. The session gathered practitioners from local government authorities, primary and secondary schools, and health centres.

These stakeholders provided critical feedback and recommendations to enhance the current legal framework.

Assistant Commissione,r Ms Emma Komba, closed the session on behalf of the Acting Commissioner for Public Procurement Policy. She said that the review seeks to establish a modern, integrated supply chain system.

This system will encompass every stage from requirement planning and procurement to storage and asset disposal.

The reforms strictly adhere to the pillars of Vision 2050. Key priorities include industrial development and sustainable economic growth.

Ms Komba described the review as a strategic step to ensure the entire supply chain is represented in the new law.

The Ministry of Finance intends to analyse all submitted proposals thoroughly.

This process will identify specific areas for improvement to support national objectives. Furthermore, the Director of Legal Affairs at the Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA), Mr Paul Kadushi, confirmed its ongoing commitment to professional training.

He emphasized the importance of educating practitioners on the National e-Procurement System (NeST).

The PPRA aims to build internal capacity to ensure efficient public service delivery.

Under Chapter 410, the Ministry of Finance remains legally responsible for updating all procurement policies and guidelines across the country.
