Kampala. The East African Crude Oil Pipeline (EACOP) on Friday, August 15, 2025 held a Supplier Development Forum in Kampala to outline upcoming 2025 opportunities in Electrical, Instrumentation, and Telecommunication Security (EITS).

The event, which took place at the Sheraton Hotel, brought together more than 80 participants, including industry suppliers, contractors and key stakeholders. It featured presentations from China Petroleum Pipeline Engineering Co. Ltd (CPP) and the EITS contractors, followed by interactive question-and-answer sessions that addressed technical, commercial and procedural matters.

EACOP deputy managing director, Mr John Bosco Habumugisha, said the company remained committed to maximising local participation while ensuring safe operations.

He noted that the pipeline project is incorporating unmanned systems such as pump stations, adding that the company’s local content policy remains firm.

“Whatever can be done locally by Ugandans will be done locally and safely,” he said, while highlighting the project’s capacity-building initiatives, which have so far trained more than 82 graduate interns in Uganda.

The contractors also drew attention to ongoing Expressions of Interest (EOIs) open to suppliers, covering telecommunications and security systems as well as electrical and instrumentation works.

These EOIs seek contractors to supervise installation, hook-up and commissioning activities in the respective scopes.

The forum was closed by the Senior National Content Officer (Contracts) at the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, Mr James Musherure, who commended the collaboration between EACOP, its contractors and suppliers in creating business opportunities for Ugandan companies.
