London. Tanzania’s Minister of State in the President’s Office [Special Duties], Palamagamba Kabudi, has called on Tanzanians living abroad to invest in their home country and actively participate in national development efforts.
Speaking during a meeting with members of the Tanzanian diaspora in London, Prof Palamagamba Kabudi said citizens residing overseas possess considerable potential to contribute to Tanzania’s economic growth through capital investment, professional expertise and the experience they have gained abroad.
He conveyed greetings from the President Samia Suluhu Hassan, and delivered a message from the government encouraging stronger engagement between the diaspora community and national development initiatives.
The minister said the government is continuing with reforms aimed at strengthening key sectors of the economy.
These efforts, he noted, include rebuilding and improving institutions and systems to create a more favourable environment for investment and development.
Prof Kabudi urged Tanzanians living abroad to purchase shares in development projects being implemented in the country and to take part in joint investment ventures with partners at home.
He also encouraged them to share their skills and professional knowledge with local experts in order to accelerate progress in strategic sectors, including health, education and technology.
“Tanzanians living abroad have a vital role to play in the nation’s economic transformation. Their capital, knowledge and international exposure can significantly contribute to the country’s development,” he said.
Tanzania’s Ambassador to the United Kingdom, Mbelwa Kairuki, said the government would continue working closely with Tanzanians living overseas through its diplomatic missions.
He added that the Tanzanian Embassy in London would remain an important link between the government and the diaspora community in strengthening cooperation on investment and national development.
According to Mbelwa Kairuki, the embassy is committed to facilitating engagement with Tanzanians abroad and ensuring that opportunities for investment and collaboration are effectively communicated.
Speaking on behalf of the diaspora community, Hassan Khamis thanked the minister for visiting and meeting Tanzanians residing in the United Kingdom.
He said the visit demonstrated the government’s commitment to strengthening communication and engagement with citizens living abroad.
Mr Khamis also pledged that Tanzanians in the diaspora would continue cooperating with the government in contributing to the development of their country.
During the meeting, Prof Kabudi was accompanied by the President’s Adviser on Diplomatic Affairs, Lazaro Nyalandu.
The leaders are in the United Kingdom to attend meetings related to the Commonwealth of Nations and participate in discussions aimed at strengthening international cooperation and advancing development among member states.
