Dar es Salaam. The 26th BUILDEXPO Tanzania 2025 is set to welcome participants from over 30 countries, offering visitors a chance to explore more than 5,700 products and solutions from leading industry players.

The three-day event, taking place from September 24 to 26 at the Diamond Jubilee Expo Centre in Dar es Salaam, promises to provide insights into the latest equipment and technologies, opportunities to expand professional networks, and avenues for new business partnerships.

Registration for a free visitor pass is now open.

Ahead of the expo, the Tanzanian construction sector held a critical stakeholder meeting in Dodoma on September 11 to review the 2003 Construction Policy and deliberate on proposals for the upcoming 2025 Policy and its implementation strategy.

The session, officiated by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Construction, Ms Aisha Amour, brought together representatives from government, the private sector, contractors, engineers, architects, quantity surveyors, and other key stakeholders.

Participants discussed practical experiences and recommendations aimed at strengthening the sector.

The proposed 2025 Construction Policy is expected to stimulate growth by enhancing local participation, improving access to finance, promoting green and resilient construction, and facilitating the adoption of emerging technologies.

The Deputy Permanent Secretary, Dr Charles Msonde told the 31st Annual Conference of the Tanzania Institute of Quantity Surveyors (TIQS) in Dodoma on September 15 that the Ministry’s responsibility is to review policies and foster innovation within the construction sector.

He noted that the conference’s theme was timely, given ongoing reforms, including updates to the Architects and Quantity Surveyors Registration Board (AQRB) Act, which formally recognises the quantity surveying profession and integrates it as a key component of employment in the sector.

Dr Msonde commended the role of quantity surveyors in ensuring project management efficiency and contract quality, contributing to the timely and cost-effective completion of projects.

He further urged quantity surveyors to actively participate not only in government projects but also in institutional and private sector developments, ensuring funds are utilised in accordance with project value.

Dr Msonde encouraged stakeholders to contribute their views on improving construction policies and legislation to sustain sectoral growth and national development.

The BUILDEXPO Tanzania 2025 and the ongoing policy review reflect a broader drive to modernise the construction sector, integrating innovation, sustainability, and professional excellence to meet the demands of a rapidly evolving market.
